We’ve turned the corner into a new year,
Fresh, unspoiled days
Stretch out before us like
Sparkling, unbroken snow,
Waiting for you, for me to make our way.
Instead I stop as I realize
The path I make in this new year matters.
It matters what I do and say,
Makes a difference today, tomorrow
And each succeeding day.
I can make choices that turn white snow
Into an ugly, muddy slush of a pathway
No one wants to follow.
Or I can walk a path that lifts up along life’s way,
And honors He who created time,
This world, the seasons and you and me.
A New Year is a gift—a win.
Shall I not use this time He’s given
To follow Him?
