All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weighs the spirits. Proverbs 16:2
It’s easy to blame God when trouble comes,
(Even when it’s the result of my own choices)
Easy to frame the blame on others or God–not me!
As furiously I raise my voice.
Why didn’t God wave His magic wand,
To make everything all right?
Why the despair, the pain, the hurt,
In the darkness of the night?
Job-like I wallow in my misery,
In selfishness and pride,
Shut out love, shut out God’s Son,
To find Him patiently waiting, right here by my side.
Lord, please come take control,
Lead me from this prison of despair,
Take my life and make it Yours.
My ravaged soul repair.
Take away my selfish pride….
The difference now? His love inside,
My heart overflows with gratitude,
To He who walks beside.
Lord, when bad things happen, help me not to be too stubborn to turn to you or to ask for help. Amen.
