Just because someone tells us what we want to hear, doesn’t make them good or have our best in mind. Too often, if someone quotes scripture or talks about some ideal world, we buy it, ending up worshiping a person instead of God.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. —II Corinthians 11:14-15 (KJV)
God doesn’t want us to check our minds at the door. He wants us to think and reason and know He and His Word so intimately that we will recognize truth from falsehood, reality from fantasy and His way as opposed to the way that seems right but only leads us astray.
We need to look beyond humans to God to solve the world’s problems because evil begins in the heart of mankind. Only God can change us from the inside out—and protect us from those who would lead us astray.
