Solomon had everything and could do anything he wanted. He indulged all his desires. And found life empty. He discovered that, without God, life is meaningless, accomplishments mean nothing, and the heart is empty.
Ecclesiastes 2:17-18, 25-26a (KJV) Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. …For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I? For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: ….
That discovery is why, as Christ followers, we need to share His message of truth, salvation and hope. How many end their lives because of that emptiness inside? How many give up in despair? Without God, we are miserable, empty creatures. Only Jesus provides meaning, purpose and hope. Have I accepted abundant, meaningful life He offers those who come, follow Him?
Do I share God’s love and purpose, the meaning of life–Jesus Christ—with those who are hurting?
