Politics: Changing a culture of hate

We live in a culture that encourages getting it all out. As long, of course, as what is expressed has nothing to do with faith, morals, integrity or tolerance of opinions other than one’s own. Conservative, Christian, even foundational Constitutional issues are not allowed. Those beliefs and issues of course, are portrayed as intolerant, hateful and dangerous.

Why? Because we’ve raised a generation that has no idea what the Constitution says or the what foundations made this country great—the principles of faith, respect, and responsibility to care for oneself and others. It was the principle of a strong, creative people, citizens, in charge of those we sent to represent us, not the other way around.

Neighbor helped neighbor. There was respect for the president and our representatives. Without a faith of love and care, we’ve raised a generation easily manipulated, and led to hate and to act without thought or fact checking. This culture, for all those who have a foundation of faith, there is a vocal segment that stirs up hate with twisted truth and lies. Unfortunately, the national media, so seeped in hatred they can’t see straight, is one of the worst purveyors of falsehoods.

Truth starts with closing the mouth and opening the mind. It starts with listening more than sounding off and not taking what is spoken and printed by the media without checking things out. It is seeking to lift up, not tear down. Hate is the opposite of love, not its companion. Peace and love doesn’t grow from hatred, but from following the true source of love and peace—Jesus Christ.

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. —Proverbs 16:32 NKJV

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. —John 3:16-17 NKJV
