God does not lie. God promises total forgiveness through Jesus’ when we ask. Why do we then so often try to beat ourselves up and drag along baggage in our lives that Jesus wants to or has already forgiven and forgotten?
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? —Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
How much better to accept His gift of forgiveness, trust what He says and choose to move on to freedom. At that point, it is a choice. We don’t move on, not because we can’t, but because we choose bondage over the freedom of forgiveness.
I goof up, Lord. Sometimes pretty bad. I’ve hurt others as well as myself. I feel guilty. Help me, Jesus, to not only come to You for forgiveness, but also to accept Your forgiveness and move on to freedom. Amen.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NIV
