Devotion: Restaurant Going the Second Mile

Before eating out with my husband, I called a popular local restaurant to ask what on their menu I could eat, listing my sensitivities—starting with Gluten free.

Julie, the manager that evening knew exactly what I needed and went above and beyond (both on the phone and once we arrived) to make sure I had food clear of allergens and fixed so I didn’t have a reaction.

God is good and He works through people like Julie to bless others.

If we don’t want others to have reason to say bad things about us or to point out our bad choices and behavior, we must not give them ammunition.

If we don’t want others to turn their back on our Savior, we shouldn’t give them reason to do so.

Choices have consequences. If we truly want to share Christ, we must determine to live lives of integrity and honor, letting God’s love and light shine through us. Then the world will see and glorify Christ.

Sometimes, the first and only witness someone might accept, is how we conduct ourselves on a daily basis. Do I lead others to or away from God’s saving grace?

In all things show yourself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing integrity, gravity, sincerity, sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part (against you) may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. —Titus 2:7-8

I want to be a Julie to those around me.
