Disappointments, tragedy, pain never arrives at convenient times.
No, they spring on us at the worst possible times,
And never, seemingly, alone,
One comes, bringing along friends,
All too willing to join the party
Of the destruction of our comfortable, insular existence.
These negatives strive to drive us to despair,
Anger, bitterness and more…
But, we don’t have to let them win,
Instead of dwelling on what they’re selling,
We can refuse the bait,
Refuse to descend to fate of chaos.
We can turn from the darkness to the light,
Turn to He who died for you and me,
Rose to offer freedom, light, hope and life,
To all who follow..
Even with the worst life has to offer,
Jesus is there, lighting our path to a better tomorrow
In His light, we can fight what is pushing us
Pushing back and, in doing so,
Finding the strength to live
Without bitterness, without anger
Facing life knowing we are not alone.
With Jesus inside, beside, we will stand up,
Living life, despite the hurts,
To its fullest.
