For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Do not therefore be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be a partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; —II Timothy 1:7-8
There is no fear in love, because God is love. So, when we fear, we’re trusting, depending upon ourselves, our experiences, our rationalizations, our intellect and not on Christ or His power within.
We need to ask: Who do I wish to please? Who do I truly serve–myself and Satan’s lies, or the One who can set me free?
II Timothy 1:12 (KJV) For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Help me, Jesus, stand against fear and chose to trust You–even if I do so one baby step at a time.
