The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. Psalm 118:14
The right to die is hate disguised
And selfishness the key,
Leading to destruction of all
The good in you and me.
How dreadful to be trapped inside my mind,
Waiting in hope for love, instead I find,
Tis only death, you wish me gone,
Never again to sing life’s song.
To some my crumpled form is useless life,
A life not precious in your sight,
No time to spare for the healing touch,
Nor for the love I crave so much.
Without love, despair, the spirit dies,
Long before you turn and close your heart, your eyes,
Shut down that which preserves the life-giving flow,
I cannot fight…the life force goes.
But, all is well, now I am gone,
Your life, now free, continues on,
Until the day, you too, are trapped within,
And, with brittle smiles, they do YOU in.
The right to die is hate disguised
And selfishness the key,
Leading to destruction of all
The good in you and me.
Help me reach out in love to the disabled, the elderly, all who need Your loving touch–whether or not I think they comprehend. Amen.
