We’re here only a few short years.
What will we leave, our epitaph read—
That we were selfish, self-centered,
Always looking out for “me,”
Not really living at all
Due to bitterness, anger and fear?
Or, will it say, despite the years and tears,
We allowed Jesus in,
Trusted and followed Him,
The Savior who’s always there, and cares?
That we let go fear, as we spent time in prayer,
Reached out to those in need, knowing…
Only in Christ Jesus are we, finally,
Safe, secure and forever with He
Who created and loves us for all eternity.
