In my arrogance,
And in my pride,
I march forth
Thinking to take by storm my life.
Until things crumble all around
And I find,
My foundation, center,
I’ve left behind.
I’m overwhelmed
The harder I strive,
Bitterness follows on anger’s tail,
Shadows cover heart and mind.
Yet, I struggle on alone,
On my own, searching for a lifeline,
People, work, goals, money, more…
In one mode, survival–mine!
Until I stop, realize truth–He still beckons,
The one I left behind–Jesus Christ,
Who still offers guidance, healing, hope
If I…
But come and take His hand,
Let go my pride,
Embrace the one I left behind and find,
Wholeness, joy, light…and life.
“Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”– Matthew 11:28
