I deal in hope : Carolyn R Scheidies

Devotion Poetry Is God True?

It is of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.
–Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)

When bills come due,
The baby’s ill,
Feel in the stew…
Believe we, then, God is true?

When clouds of war hover overhead,
A military transport awaits,
A loved one departs on whom we depend,
What is there left at this time to be said?

When ills befall through ignorance or woe,
Through mismanagement
Or an economy trending slow,
Trust we, then, He cares, He knows.

Such times cloud mind and memory,
Thrusting trouble to the fore and we
Forget times He rescued you and me,
Forget He offers to save, set free.

God never promised an untroubled ride,
He promised His peace in the midst of woe,
A loving hand to comfort and guide,
His presence always right beside.

Only in Him will we find release,
In uncertain, troubled days,
His loving kindness will never cease,
As we rest in Christ who is our salvation,
comfort and our peace.

…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
–Daniel 11:32 (KJV)

No matter what the circumstances, Lord, help me to trust and follow you. Amen.
