Blog God’s Word is Powerful–and True. Do you read it?

We struggle through life and often wonder, “Where is God?” Yet if we were truthful, we have to ask ourselves the question, “Why should God listen to me?” Because we know we haven’t been listening to Him. If we haven’t  been reading His Word on any regular basis, we really have little idea what God really teaches in the Bible.

This book that has stood the test of time and changed individuals and whole counties that came to faith, is a collection of 66 books of history, poetry, principles, values, prophecy and yes, science about how the world began and how it is maintained,

Memorizing a verse as a child or only opening God’s Word now and again, maybe in church, is not the same as truly knowing God’s Word or what God has for us within those pages.

Why do we shy away from reading God’s Word? Excuses range from time to the arrogance of believing we can handle this one. But when our lives fall apart we turn to God and wonder where He is.

Truth is, not knowing God’s Word means we don’t who Jesus really is and we cannot claim to know or to follow Him–or expect His help when trouble comes.

When we do not know God’s Word, when we do not regularly go to it to discover more of God’s will and way, we are ignorant of who God really is and His principles for an abundant life. We become easily manipulated and misled.

Revelation 3:17 (ESV) says, “For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” Worse, we often don’t even realize we’re walking in darkness and death–not the light God offers.

When we’re sick, do we go to God’s Word? Yet, there a number of healing verses. “He sent his word, and healed them…” –Psalms 107: 20a  His Word offers hope, comfort, peace and so much more for those willing to explore its depth.

Only as we read, study, follow the God of scripture, will we know the guidance, healing, hope and life and only Jesus offers. “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” –2 Timothy 2:15

As you become a student of God’s Word, you will find that He is there, He does care and He’s waiting for you and me to become His disciple and discover the path to God who said, “…be content with such things as you have: for he said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. –Hebrews 13: 5b

How do we come to know Him? Believe, ask, follow. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. –John 3:16-17
