Politics: When a Nation Turns From God : History Repeats

We have a problem. We don’t remember. Today, we have generations that have grown up not understanding what personal responsibility and freedom is, how our government works and the Judea-Christian principles on which America was funded. We’re losing it all, because we’ve forgotten God and have never been taught truth about faith or our founders.

Israel turned away from God and Israel fell. God does not let such a situation go on forever. He loves us too much to let us wallow in our sin, destroying ourselves, our families, our nation.

Judges 2:10b-11 (KJV) …So another generation grew up after them. They had no personal experience with the LORD or with what he had done for Israel. The people of Israel did what the LORD considered evil. They began to serve other gods-the Baals.

Sometimes the only thing that makes us look up is adversity, losing everything most precious to us.

Judges 2:14 (KJV) So the LORD became angry with the people of Israel. He handed them over to people who robbed them. He also used their enemies around them to defeat them. They could no longer stand up against their enemies.

Isaiah 41:4b (KJV) Who has accomplished this? Who has determined the course of history from the beginning? I, the LORD, was there first, and I will be there to the end. I am the one!

Sin blinds us to truth until we allow our enemies to win.

As Christians we can remember, we can know God’s will, live for Him and know His protection, provision and His peace. Will we have the courage to stand up and recapture truth?

Whatever happens to our nation, our part is to follow Jesus—wherever His leads, and share Him with our family, our friends and others who walk in darkness. It is the only hope not only for you and me, but for our nation as well. It starts with repentance. Lord, forgive me. Help me follow You no matter what. Amen.

Hebrews 7:24-25 (KJV) But Jesus lives forever, so he serves as a priest forever. That is why he is always able to save those who come to God through him. He can do this because he always lives and intercedes for them.
