Devotions Bio Thirsting for Him–A Cat and a lesson

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6

Though she’s been gone for many years, I remember when Cutie cat would leap onto the bathroom counter and stare at me from big green eyes. Blinking at me, she nudged the faucet. I knew she wanted me to turn on the water to fill her bowl with fresh water. Once she tasted water fresh from the faucet, she was never satisfied with her once-a-day filled water bowl by her dry food.

Her response made me wonder how often do I satisfy myself with the stale offerings of my faith. Do I live off a Sunday sermon for a week or more without going to the source for daily refreshing?

Cutie Cat had the right idea. If I am to know the benefits of living for Jesus and know his comfort, guidance and everlasting love, I need to go to the source–Jesus–and drink, renewing my relationship with Him and His Word each day.

Lord Jesus, help me not be satisfied with routine faith. Help me daily come to you for refreshment and nourishment. Amen.
