Devotion: His Actions or Our Choices?

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. —Galatians 6:7-8 (KJV)

When we make bad choices it is easy to blame a God we pay scant attention to when all seems well. Sometimes, because we are too busy or lazy to communicate with Jesus or to read His Word, we don’t have a clue to what His principles are and don’t realize God wants to bless us. Instead we make choices that dishonor ourselves and the God we claim to follow. We sin. Disobedience to God’s principles has consequences.

But God still loves us. When we sin, the best thing we can do is bow and ask forgiveness to restore fellowship with the One who created, knows and loves us best—Jesus.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.—1 John 1:9 (KJV)

Jesus, help me to turn to and not away from You when life happens. Forgive me for going my way instead of seeking Your direction and guidance. Help me commit to reading Your Word each day that I might know You, Your will and Your way. Amen.
